About Joe Landry

Joe Landry is a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He is the seventh of eight children born of the marriage of Clare Birrcher and Dr. Wallace J. Landry, Jr. Dr. Landry unexpectedly passed away at a young age, Joe being only twenty five months old at the time. Mrs. Landry was all of thirty-five years old when she was widowed with eight children. Joe's mother taught all of her children to love life and to respect everyone. Whether you call it the "equal dignity" rule or the "golden rule," it is one in the same. Mrs. Landry taught through her actions how to help others. She instilled a sense of integrity in determining right from wrong as well as fair play in her children. She taught them anything worth having is worth working for.

As a child growing up in the Landry household, education was emphasized. Joe was educated at St. Dominic and Christian Brothers Schools. He graduated from Brother Martin High School, Loyola University with a BBA in Finance, and Loyola Law School. During his last year of Law School, Joe was elected Student Bar Association President. He was sworn into the Louisiana Bar Association in October, 1981.

Since becoming a member of the Bar, Joe worked in private practice for 19 years at Guste Barnett and Shushan. In 1999, Joe started his own firm. Joe practices at The Law Offices of Joseph B. Landry, APLC. In his private practice, Joe represented clients in Municipal Court prior to becoming Prosecutor. Since 2000, Joe has been an employee of the City of New Orleans Law Department assigned as a City Prosecutor in Municipal Court. The Supreme Court appointed Joe as an Ad Hoc Judge in both Municipal Court and First City Court. This experience as Prosecutor, Defense Attorney, and Judge Ad Hoc in Municipal Court is unparalleled by any of the other candidates.

Joe's experience working in Municipal Court has afforded him a first hand opportunity to learn the inner workings of Municipal Court. He understands the law and the litigants of Municipal Court. He possesses the temperament and compassion necessary to be a great Municipal Court Judge. Joe is anxious to introduce fresh ideas into the system.

Joe has been married to his wife, Kay, for the last twenty-nine years. They reside in Lakeview and have three children: Caroline (married to Perrin Rittiner), Joseph, Jr., and Lizette.
